Nanette Zumwalt & Mary Beth Barry, Chair, CORE Kidney Foundation

Did you know you could have kidney disease and not even know it? It happened to a family member of mine, and it nearly took his life. Please join me in speaking with Nanette Zumwalt and Mary Beth Barry, kidney recipients and ambassadors of the CORE Kidney program, which raises awareness about kidney disease as well as organ donation.

Nanette received her kidney from a living donor, while Mary Beth’s donor was deceased. Both women were in dire need of a kidney transplant, and they talk about their unique journeys with us. They also want to educate people about getting screened for kidney disease when they go for their yearly physical through a simple blood test.

Kidney disease is a leading cause of death in the U.S., with an estimated 35-million people estimated to have chronic kidney disease. It’s critical to know about your kidney health, how and what to eat to keep your kidney functioning, and well discuss that during our interview. This is a topic a lot of people don’t think about, so we’re here to learn more and get the conversation going.

Cathryn Michon, Animal Advocate & Bestselling Author, “I’m Still Here: A Dog’s PurposeForever”

Cathryn Michon is a filmmaker, actor, animal advocate, and she joins us to talk about her latest book, “I’m Still Here: A Dog’s Purpose Forever.”

So many of us are dog lovers. After all, they are our family. Did you ever wonder why dogs don’t live longer? Cathryn addresses that and so much more in her national bestseller. “I’m Still Here” is told from the point of view of an angel dog, or a dog who has passed, revealing to those who loved him that he’s in a safe place, and he’s watching over his human family. It’s a beautiful portrayal of the tenderness and bond that animals share with each of us.

Cathryn has had an incredible career, and is the only woman screenwriter in America who had two feature films in world release in 2019, “A Dog’s Way Home,” and “A Dog’s Journey,” the sequel to “A Dog’s Purpose,” all told from a dog’s point of view.

Cathryn’s writing credits include “South Park,” “Designing Women,” and others. She’s performed at Chicago’s Second City and appeared both on TV and off-broadway. Well ask her about that, and when her love of animals began. Oh, and we’ll talk about her husband too, author Williams Bruce Cameron, whose book, “A Dog’s Purpose,” spent 52-weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
